Every photograph on this site is a Creative Commons-licensed work from Wikimedia Commons. We chose CC over generic stock because Commons photographers volunteer real, in-place images — actual platforms at Humberto Delgado (Lisbon Portela), real streets in Alfama, the genuine cliffs at Cabo da Roca. This page is our thank-you to the photographers and a transparent record of every credit we owe them.

Service & guide pages

These are the hero photographs for the airport-service pages — taxis, Carris buses, train (Aeroporto Metro / CP), terminals, hotels, layover and the rest. They depict the spaces and vehicles travellers actually meet on the ground at Humberto Delgado.

Route guides (Lisbon Airport → destination)

These photographs introduce each destination guide — from the city's historic neighbourhoods (Alfama, Baixa, Chiado, Bairro Alto) to day-trips up the Atlantic coast (Sintra, Cascais, Cabo da Roca, Nazaré) and inland to the monastic towns (Évora, Tomar, Batalha). Where possible we picked pedestrian-eye-level images, not tourism-brochure angles.

License types in use on this site

CC BY
Attribution required. You may reuse the work for any purpose, including commercial, provided you credit the photographer.
CC BY-SA
Attribution + ShareAlike. Same as CC BY, but any derivative work must be released under the same licence.
CC0 / Public domain
The photographer waived copyright. Attribution is not required, but we credit anyway because it's the right thing to do.

License version numbers (2.0, 3.0, 4.0) refer to revisions of the Creative Commons text. They differ in detail but share the same core principle: credit the maker.

Our attribution policy

All photographs are credited inline on this page with: the photographer's name (as published on Wikimedia Commons), the licence under which they released the work, and a link back to the original file on Commons. Images have been resized and re-encoded as WebP for page performance; we do not alter the content of the photograph itself.

If you are the rights holder of an image used on this site and would like to discuss the credit line, the licence, or removal, please reach out via our contact page. We respond within five business days.
